      All the above covers were canceled on 3-31-1967, the 50th Anniversary of the U.S. purchase for $25 million from Denmark of the Danish West Indies (DWI) and their being renamed to the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI).
      The following were specially canceled on 3-31-2017, the 100th Anniversary of the Denmark to U.S Transfer of ownership.

      The following is the only known photo taken of "The Official Ceremony for the transfer of the Danish West Indies to the United States. At the current VI Legislature, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas." The photo is courtesy of Love City Car Ferries, Inc. .
