This page lists the changes made during the conversion, file name changes and new directories, pages not moved, etc. Except for those pages listed below which are now the default page in a directory, all other old ExecPC page ".html" filename extensions were changed to ".shtml" .

The ExecPC to /www.folklib.net/ conversion is complete.

01-23-1995: Work began organizing and converting hundreds of my browser's bookmarks into web pages.
11-25-1995: The FolkBook Index at ExecPC.com became operational.
03-08-1998: The site was renamed to FolkLib Index.
          07-04-2000 Midnight: http://www.folklib.net/ became operational.
07-16-2000: Any other changes to this site will be listed on the What's New? page.
12-17-2000: All obsolete ExecPC pages have been deleted.

File Name changes from   - http://www.execpc.com/~henkle/fbindex/fbindex.html   to   http://www.folklib.net/

In the interest of making URL's shorter and easier to remember at my new domain, a number of new directories were created. The following old ExecPC pages are now the default page in a directory. As explained on my Preferred Links page, always, always, ALWAYS! include the trailing slash "/" in every link as shown.

ExecPC filename FolkLib URL
-------------------- ----------------
fbindex.html http://www.folklib.net/
wi_site_map.html http://www.folklib.net/index/wi/
articles_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/articles/
bibliog_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/bibliog/
birthday_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/birth/
fan_clubs_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/fan/
faqs_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/faqs/
lyrics_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/lyrics/
mailing_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/mailing/
pictures_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/pictures/
record_labels.html http://www.folklib.net/index/labels/
sounds_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/sounds/
usenet_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/usenet/
videos_lists.html http://www.folklib.net/index/videos/
whats_new.html http://www.folklib.net/index/whats_new/
The following pages got their filenames shortened because the extra long filenames have caused maintenance problems in the past:
ExecPC filename FolkLib filename
---------------------------- ---------------------
alexander_charles_david.html alexander_c_d.shtml
berryman_lou_and_peter.html berryman.shtml
piper_road_spring_band.html piper_road.shtml
period2icals_whats_new.html period2icals.shtml
          Other filename and directory changes
ExecPC filename FolkLib filename
-------------------- ----------------
fbindex_thanks.html folklib_thanks.shtml
fbindex/ (directory) index/
So that I don't have to go through this same arduous conversion task again when I retire, all my personal (unofficial) pages at UW Oshkosh, except the History of The Koehn Institute at UW Oshkosh (1983-1998), have also been moved here to my personal domain. - Doug Henkle's Home Page
UW Oshkosh filename FolkLib URL
--------------------- -----------
home_site_map.html http://www.folklib.net/henkle/

Because they are more like record labels than individual artists or groups, the following discographies were moved:

ExecPC location FolkLib location Organization
-------------------- -------------------------- ------------------------
g/green2_apple.html labels/green2_apple.shtml Green Apple Folk Music Society
g/guitar_player.html labels/guitar2_player.shtml Guitar Player Magazine
s/simply2_folk.html labels/simply2_folk.shtml "Simply Folk" / Wisconsin Public Radio
I thought about not moving the following page, but there are still hundreds of sites that need this information because they continue to link to FolkBook pages that were deleted in March 1998. To see a list of these sites, go to Alta Vista - http://www.altavista.com/ - and "Search for:" the following: link:http://www.cgrg.ohio-state.edu/folkbook   However, the page has been renamed to a more appropriate name:
ExecPC filename FolkLib filename
-------------------- --------------------------
index_general.html folkbook_conversion.shtml

Old ExecPC pages not moved to the new site on 07-04-2000.
