Cachet Display Catalog: FDC Cachetmakers Index
This page displays First Day Cover (FDC) meeting notice cards created by the Monmouth County Philatelic Society of Red Bank, NJ which are in my personal collection "{A}" and others from the Web. From about 1935 until about 1945, shortly before each local meeting, this Society sent out meeting notice cards to the members. Many cards, but not all of them, include a short description of the program planned for that meeting. Some were sent out with whatever stamps were available to them at the time. However, as this page displays, whenever an announced
First Day of Issue for a new stamp release occurred shortly before the meeting date, the Society sent in the meeting notice cards to be First Day canceled as a special souvenir for the members. I do not know how many cards were mailed out for each meeting or how many may still exist in collector's hands today, but somebody's collection of them went on sale at eBay in the Fall of 2019 and the Spring of 2020. In December 2021, I purchased the 30 cards still unsold at eBay and they eventually will all be displayed here. The only duplicates known to me, i.e. two cards with different addressees, are two #858 FDC's for the 11-17-1939 meeting.

According to the
Red Bank Register, 6-24-1954, page 2 article, "Monmouth Club to Celebrate Its 'Founders Night'":
It was founded as the "Philatelic Sons of America" in 1894.
On 3-04-1915 it was renamed to the "Monmouth County Philatelic Society".
Their first exhibition was held on 5-11-1934.
In April 1950 it joined the Federated Stamp Clubs of Central New Jersey which held exhibitions under the name, CENJEX.
"The year 1954 commemorates the 60th year this society has been in existence."

According to the Journal of the British North America Philatelic Society,
BNA Topics, June 1954, Vol. 11(6), p. 184, it was still active, as a BNAPS member gave a talk at one of their May 1954 meetings.
- About the "Charter Member" and NFSC cloverleaf logo on the back of the cards, found on the Web was: "National Federation of Stamp Clubs, Inc. was established on 1935-12-06" in New York. I could find no website for it, so this Federation may no longer exist.
