Cachet Display Catalog: FDC Cachetmakers Index
This page displays First Day Cover (FDC) cachets created by
John Coulthard (9-21-1903 - 9-24-1966) of Modesto, CA in
Scott Number order. For a display of many cartoons and ads he drew from the 1930's through the 1950's,
see my bibliography page documenting the stamp and cover sales catalog, "Collector's Handbook" by
Elmer R. Long. And, for a number of special Naval Event cachets he created, see the page,
Naval Cover Museum: Cachet Maker John Coulthard. The
Naval Cover Museum (NCM) is owned and maintained by the
Universal Ship Cancellation Society (USCS), Greg Ciesielski, NCM Curator. Except as noted by
"{A}" (my personal collection), all other displays were found on the Web.

This cachet has been pictured in FIRST DAYS: 1) Piscina, 1982 -- "Another common error occurs in the identification of the cachet illustrated in Figure 3. This cover is frequently misidentified as an Ioor cachet because of the similarity to Ioor's famous air mail borders. Actually, this cachet was drawn by John Coulthard for Fitts of Cachet Craft."; 2) Dubin, 1983 -- "Coulthard Design for Cachet Craft"; and 3) Copeland, 2015 -- "It was attributed to John Coulthard for Cachet Craft in the October 1, 1982, and January 1, 1983, issues, showing similar attribution."
As John Coulthard was the principal artist for Elmer Long, see:
"Collector's Handbook" by Elmer R. Long for many more Coulthard designs.
