[ca. Feb. 2011] I'm Laura Llorens, a singer/songwriter originally from Two Rivers, Wisconsin USA. Once a real small town girl, I left my quiet country home after dreaming for years of going to the big city and trying my luck at music. So at the ripe old age of 18, I packed up my guitar and saxophone and went to Paris looking for answers to questions that bothered me so. Nine years have gone by. .... I initially started singing in the metro in Paris and in small, smokey cafés. My voice grew and was forged through these sometimes not-so-easy circumstances. Being a busker has tought me many important things and brought me courage and confidance. .... Today, I write all my own songs, mostly in French and in English, but I've been known to sing in other languages such as Spanish, Creole and Bambara. .... My first EP "Rollercoaster" which was recorded in 2008 with my then group the Laura E. Family was a fun mix-up of different styles and rythms going from folk to reggae to french chanson to funk. It was quite an adventure! But somewhere in between all the concerts we were playing together I realized that I liked playing those types of music but they weren't entirely me. Something was missing. .... In 2009, a solo Laura Llorens took center stage. After that, plans for recording a new EP were quickly put into place. "The Giving Tree" was recorded in 2010 in Paris and in Milwaukee . I'm proud of this album because I feel that it's really me. 100% pure Laura. For the first time ever, I got to play piano, saxophone and even put some tap shoes on the only French track. I'm also super happy and super proud to say that my dear and extremely talented friend Emily Zimmer played lead guitars on all the tracks and she really added sweet, heartfelt solos to every song. .... "The Giving Tree" is now available on all international digital downloading websites such as Itunes, Virgin Megastore, Rhapsody and Fnac Music. .... I also just want to say THANK YOU to all the fans and friends and family who have been a huge influnence and source of support to me throughout this beautiful journey that is Music. Thank You for believing. God Bless you!.
