This is a long term project to list every Record Label that ever existed. An impossible project, for sure, but I can find nothing on-line that attempts the following:
Purposes/Goals of these pages ... To include:
      1) Every known Record Label whether it still exists or not,
      2) A Bibliographic Index to where you can find a Record Company description, short biography, or discography in the listed books, AND
      3) Every known address where each Label is or has been located at one or more points in time.

Goal #3 is what makes these pages different from any other Label list, anywhere, all of which list only one current address per Label. All the addresses are from published source books and magazines I own and were current as of the publication date(s) following each address. Some of the addresses are over 50 years old (earliest 1960). Therefore, as they may or may not still be current today, the addresses may be most useful as an historical record of each Company. It is for this reason that, if the print sources include them, because they are more likely to change oftener than a postal mailing address, Label telephone numbers, Web sites** and E-Mail addresses are NOT included here. Check the original sources for that information, or search the Web for it.
** = Exception, record companies which have no name, only a URL, like "record--company.com", will be listed. Plus, they will be cross-referenced in one place.
Restricting the sources for these pages to just printed books and magazines will hinder the "complete list of labels" goal. However, I do not know how anyone can verify a label's existence, both today and decades from today, if the label's name NEVER appeared anywhere in a widely available print source.
The suffix "Records" is implied after most Label names listed here, but it is included only if it was specifically used in the source. If the same identical address was found in multiple sources, the sources are listed left to right in chronological order.

What these pages do NOT do: 1) They do not indicate whether any Label is currently active or not, and 2) They do not attempt to verify that the most recent address found in a book, is the Label's address today. Therefore:
IMPORTANT: Verify with a second CURRENT source before mailing to any historical address on these pages!

Every address on these pages came from a published book (1960*-2009).   Except for Terry E. Gordon's site, Rockin' Country Style, which only lists city/state/province, none of this information was obtained from anywhere else on the Web, or from anyone who sent me an address or city/state/country that never appeared in a book or magazine.
    * = The only pre-1960 book I own with a list of Record Companies, NHD48 (1948), has no addresses.

"Selected Discography" p. 180-188, color photos of 45/LP labels, some of which have legible city/state or street addresses.
  34. AMB89 -- 1989, Willis, Barry R.. America's Music Bluegrass
"Record Companies" p. 532-540, a short list with just label names, year founded and few owner names is on p. 533, the rest have short histories of each label, no addresses
  35. ARL78 -- 1978, Rust. The American Record Label Book: From the 19th Century Through 1942, 1st ed.
        p. 11-334, A-Z Record Label biographies, with a B&W label scan for most, and occasionally, addresses, and some of the label scans are also shown in color on the dust jacket
Unfortunately, only four of the 25 known Wisconsin based 78 labels are mentioned in this book: Paramount, p. 226-229, and its three sub-labels: Broadway, p. 44-45, Famous, p. 122, and Puritan, p. 256-257.

        p. 15-206, A-Z Record Label biographies, with a B&W company logo, total number of hit singles and albums in U.S & U.K., if any, and some mention city/state/country in the text, but no addresses

        p. 13-309 ... same as above, AZR00

  42. CLR65 -- 1996, Osborne. The Complete Library of American Phonograph Recordings - 1965
"CLR65:115b" = printing problem: the label list starts on page 125, but the next page is numbered 114, so there are two different sets of pages 114-125. The "b" in the above page code indicates the second occurrence of the page 114. For example, see ABC-Paramount, "CLR65:125-115b" are three consecutive pages. Thus, 125b and 126 are also consecutive pages.
  43. CLR66 -- 1996, Osborne. The Complete Library of American Phonograph Recordings - 1966
  44. CLR67 -- 1997, Osborne. The Complete Library of American Phonograph Recordings - 1967

Other books I do not own and have never seen, which will NOT be used to build this label name resource:

Addresses, telephone numbers, Web sites, E-Mail addresses? I have no idea what exact details any of the following books contain. Like every other source listed on these pages, they probably do not have historical addresses which were known to be obsolete when the book was published. They are listed in chronological publication date order.

Bibliography moved to the "Wisconsin Labelography" which went public on 04-01-2010.

Rockin' Country Style
This is the sole exception to my using only print sources for this page. Although there are no street addresses listed at Terry E. Gordon's site, he has City/State/Country locations (USA and Canada only) for 1951-1964 45 rpm recordings released by over 3,700 different Record Labels. Many Labels he has discographies for have not been mentioned in any book indexed so far. For any Label without "{code:page}", his site is these pages's only source for the location information for this Label. Rockin' Country Style is the only known Web site** that prominently and consistently features locations for large numbers of Labels, so incorporating Terry's location information here is vital to the Goals for these pages. Terry includes scans of thousands of 45's (click on the camera icon, with JavaScript browsers only) which might have street addresses, but looking at every one of his scans for possible addresses would take several lifetimes, so I won't begin to attempt that.

city, state = a link in bold goes to Terry's discography for this Label

** Wikipedia sometimes includes locations, but because there is no enforced consistent format to every page, and there is a total lack of cooperation among the hundreds of different authors, the location could be listed under, "Headquarters", "Location", "Country of origin" with no named city, or buried in the text, if it is mentioned at all.

Corrections, Suggestions and Additions:

Corrections (misspelled words, transcription errors, typos) and Suggestions for page improvement are welcome anytime E-Mailed or postal mailed to one of the addresses at the bottom of every page.
Because these pages are an Index to previously published information from sources that are very likely to still exist decades from today, Additions must be accompanied by bibliographical information about the printed source of your addition. On-line sources, because they may not exist the day after tomorrow, are not acceptable sources. If I have no easy access** to the printed source to verify the addition, please be prepared, on my request, to send me a photocopy or scan of the source. Thank you.

** "easy access"? - a few of the books listed in my Label Bibliography exist in the reference section of the Mills Music Library at UW-Madison, a 180 mile round trip, so they are not easily accessible to me. I go there, on average, only about once or twice a year. If I ever find and purchase a used copy of one of them, I will add that book to my list of sources documented here. I have never found any of them in the "Half Price Books" stores in Appleton, Madison or Milwaukee.

Linking to these pages:

Feel free to link to one of these pages or to any specific section or label name within a page. If I do not have an "anchor" tag (a name=) for a specific label entry you would like to link to, please write and I will add one for you.
Be aware that my anchor tags are not set in stone. Every anchor on my entire 1,000+ page site is unique for easy updating and linking between pages. If I find an anchor that duplicates another one not related to it, the anchor is subject to change. If your link does not work sometime in the future, "show source" of the page to see the new spelling of the anchor.
